Why We Celebrate Dussehra? Dussehra, also known as Vijayadashami, is a festival that celebrates the triumph of good over evil. The central message of this festival is the victory of righteousness. Lord Rama, in a momentous battle, defeated the Demon King Ravana on this very day. Similarly, Goddess Durga vanquished the demon Mahishasura from the earth. This parallel between the two events underscores the universal message of Dussehra: the triumph of light over darkness, truth over falsehoods, and goodness over evil.
You can donate food, clothes, or money to the poor and the needy. Additionally, you can worship Mother Ganga on the day of Ganga Dussehra. It is customary to use Ganga water, flowers, fruits, and sweets during worship. You can also contribute to temple construction and gau seva during this auspicious occasion.
