Kartik Purnima 2024: 7 Must-Donate Items to Attract Prosperity and Success on This auspicious day. - Shri Ram Mandir Kamarpal

Kartik Purnima is celebrated as one of the holiest days in the Hindu calendar, brimming with divine energy and spiritual significance. It is a day when bathing and making donations are particularly auspicious. Similar to how Diwali is celebrated nationwide with lamps lighting up the night on the 15th day after Kartik Amavasya, Kartik Purnima serves as a "Diwali" for the gods, marking a grand celebration. This year, Kartik Purnima will be observed on November 15.

On this sacred occasion, individuals have the opportunity to donate various items in the hopes of accumulating good fortune. The significance of Snan-Daan is particularly heightened on Kartik Purnima, as it is believed to bestow success and good luck upon the donor. Below is a list of seven essential items that should be donated on this auspicious day.

  • Food (Anna Daan) - Donating food on Kartik Purnima nourishes the soul. It is believed to eradicate hunger and poverty in past lives, ensure food abundance in the present life, and grant spiritual growth. According to Hindu scriptures, feeding the hungry pleases Lord Vishnu. You can donate nutritious meals, grains, or sponsor meals at temples or charities. This act of kindness also aids in attaining Moksha (liberation).
  • Clothing (Vastra Daan) - Donating clothes (Vastra Daan) on special days like Kartik Purnima is very beneficial. It helps cleanse past sins, earns spiritual rewards, and makes Lord Krishna happy. It's also thought to bring good luck. Hindu texts say that giving clothes to those in need can help break free from poverty and suffering.
  • Ghee or Oil (Ghruta Daan)  - Donating ghee or oil on Kartik Purnima is a way to lighten your spirit, clean your thoughts, gain knowledge, and bring wealth. It's a tradition that makes Lord Shiva happy. You can give it to temples for their lamps or share it for cooking. This kind of donation also helps you stay healthy and live longer.
  • Cows Donation (Gau Daan) - Donating cows or supporting the well-being of cows on Kartik Purnima brings good luck, spiritual growth, protection against negative forces, and happiness in the afterlife, as is mentioned in Hindu texts. Helping cow shelters or rural communities helps maintain peace and appreciation.
  • Knowledge (Vidya Daan) - Sharing knowledge on Kartik Purnima is very important. It helps the soul by getting rid of ignorance, giving wisdom, and leading to Moksha. According to Hindu texts, giving knowledge is even more valuable than giving money or things. You can help by giving educational materials, supporting scholarships, or teaching others.
  • Lighting Donation (Deep Daan) - Giving lamps or lighting items on Kartik Purnima helps brighten places and spreads light. It's believed to bring spiritual progress, wealth, and happiness to Lord Krishna and Shiva. In Hindu beliefs, deep daan represents understanding and wisdom. You can also light ghee diyas for the gods at the temple.
  • Planting Tulsi (Tulsi Dan) on Kartik Purnima brings good luck and blessings. It's believed to help with spiritual development, keep you healthy, and bring happiness. Tulsi is seen as a symbol of Goddess Lakshmi in Hinduism, and giving or planting it shows devotion and helps with spiritual growth. It's also thought to improve health and increase lifespan.
